Video Profiles: Set custom bitrates
under review

The purpose of this feature would be to add additional options which would allow someone to set the video and audio bitrate at which the video should be transcoded to.
Purpose is to be able to have better control over the uploaded videos regardless if they are made on phones or desktop computers.

Thank you for the info.
In regards to the info, just like mentioned in a ticket, there are many things that influence the video size. Our system will try to reduce the file size of the transcoding however it will have priority for quality over size.
Now, one of the possible options is to set video profiles with additional streams so you can pick between playing
1080, 720 or 480 stream (and more).
While bitrates will work, for playback purposes, one other feature might actually be better and we have it here. That is for Adaptive Streaming
Specific wording in the page you have posted could be slightly modified to better describe the formats.
Specifically with video profiles, you can:
- Set resolution
- Set Format
Now the _format_ is not as in "file format", rather "video format" such as letterbox format.
The "formatting" is done in that context to the video itself and based on your choices within the Expert Settings (when setting the video profile process).
We do have some encoding codecs that we will be supporting in future (such as AV1 and H.265) and we have plans for video file formats exports (such as .avi or .mov, etc.). If you wish you can upvote it here: https://ziggeo.canny.io/video/p/allow-transcoding-of-media-into-different-file-formats

We are requesting this from September 2020. Video bitrate could be a good approach, the important thing is to solve the oversized video output files, especially when Video Profiles do not work as expected.
Video Profiles already give the [false] impression that people are able to set the output transcoding formats but in practise the transcoder randomly creates the file sizes: sometimes the output file size is same as input, other times it converts the file to 1/20th of the original size.
"Video Profiles allow you to specify a list of transcoding resolutions and formats that recorded videos should be converted to."
Does Ziggeo have any timeline to fix this?
